time to begin :)

hola todos!
i was planning on holding off on blogging till my year officially starts in Granada, but figured now is as good of time as any to get my blogging on :) my time in spain now totals to exactly one week, although it feels like i've been traveling for much longer. my mom, dave, and i are currently relaxing in Cadaqués, a small, picturesque town along the Costa Brava coast, just a couple hours north of Barcelona.
every day i learn a little more about Spanish living--the 10:30pm dinners, playful language, and different way of life. although i naturally still feel like outsider in a foreign land, i am starting to see the possibilities for the future and vast opportunities that this year will present.
here are some pictures to try and capture my Spanish experience thus far :)

Barcelona: this is Gaudi's unfinished cathedral, La Sagrada Familia. every day over 200 workers continue to build, yet the cathedral is predicted to be completed in 40 years or more.

Barcelona: a once gated community designed by Gaudi

Barcelona: on the Pasieg de Gracia, one of Gaudi's homes.

Barcelona: Catalyuan and Spanish flags

Barcelona: Plaza de Catalunya

Montserrat: we took a day trip outside the city to visit the "Mecca of Catalan." Montserrat, meaning serrated mountain, consists of a gorgeous monastery built among gagged rock formations and many hiking trails once used by monks and hermits.

Cadequés

Cadaqués: walking back from town around 9:00pm to a beautiful sunset over the bay.
